Why This Room Matters

This building used to be a warehouse. Now it's one of the most technically ambitious worship spaces ever built.

The sound moves with you.

The mix isn't locked to left/right speakers — it's object-based, meaning individual sounds can be placed and moved anywhere in the room for true surround immersion. In a space that isn't even a standard rectangle, that's a hard problem. And you get to feel what that sounds like in-person.

Built to sound like a record, live.

UPPERROOM releases albums straight from what happens on their stage. So the amp isolation booths and the fully enclosed drum room are built to studio spec; sealed, treated, and tuned so the live capture needs zero post-production cleanup. What you hear in the room is what ends up on the album.

Light that reacts in real time.

The Halo — a circular light installation at the center of the room — illuminates from both sides and pulses outward in concentric rings, in full color, synced live to what's on stage. It even responds to natural daylight. An LED wall curves with it, so every element in the room moves as one system.

Open more than one day a week.

UPPERROOM runs as a house of prayer, open daily for anyone to walk in, work, or just sit. On weekends, it becomes a full worship gathering on a campus that also holds a school.
You'll see and hear all of it in person, including what it actually took to build.

What To Expect

You'll get a live walkthrough of the space and a look at what makes it work: the sound system, the lighting, the acoustic treatment, and the story behind why every piece was designed the way it was. Come with questions. Come with your team. Come ready to think differently about what your own room could be.

FAQ

Yes, space is limited and this is a private event for SALT attendees only. Registering also lets us plan food and seating accordingly, so please save your spot even if you're not 100% sure you'll make it.

No. SALT is not managing transportation for off-site events, so you'll need to arrange your own way to and from UPPERROOM. It's a straightforward drive from the conference venue; we'll include directions and parking details in your registration confirmation.

Charcuterie snacks and water will be available, along with a live demo and walkthrough of the space.

Nothing required. If you're the type to take notes on room design, audio architecture, or lighting programming, you'll want a notebook.

Yes, if others on your team are at SALT, we'd love to have them. Please have each person register individually so we have an accurate headcount.
